Gentle Readers,

So, it's 6am in vegas and I'm watching the sun rise over the mountains. My east facing room has an gread view over the strip down onto Excalibur and Hooters. However, this room has only one wired internet connection and my coworker is using that to do some work so you get a nice long missive from me.

So, let's talk about the whole weekend.

We left from Ottawa when I got home from work and made it to Finitedancer and Peredur's in good time. I sat in the back with a couple of little girls sleepnig on me. It was very cute. We got a little chit-chat in once we got there and then I went to hide in our room as I hadn't actually had more than an hours worth (total) of alone time since some time on Wednesday. Given the event coming up and the week of talking to people, not to mention the fact that I was grumpy, I was pretty sure I needed a recharge so I hid and read for a couple of hours and was quite good company by the time morning came round.

The event itself was pretty great. N&A had a lovely stepping down ceremony followed by Q&D's very norse stepping up. Lots of people were doing viking and it was lovely to see.

After arriving I think I spent the next hour or so just making sure I greeted everyone I knew. I didn't end up fencing or fighting due to a number of factors including no space to pack gear, so time to do the fencing and an injured wrist to boot. It was not as disappointing as I had feared. I did get to use my time wisely and was able to have a chat with almost everyone I wanted to greet.

We also had a bit of time to talk with Ld. Edhan about our hare problem. It will be an interesting reveal at Dandelion.

We have some revenge that needs to take place and I am hoping that we will be able to effectively wield our monkeys to that end.

There did, sadly, end up being a couple of sour notes (but not from any of the performances!) but they were really nothing but background noise for what was really a fabulous event.

We managed to get out of the house and on the road by 10:05 the next morning which is pretty amazing as there is something of a sloth generator around that house (not wanting to leave off spending time with loved friends is a bit part of that, I think). Still, we did it and even had buy in from Lydia.

We made it to the airport in plenty of time for me to sit for an hour while my plane was delayed for mechanical reasons. The delay was inevitable, it is air travel after all, but I wish they had let us know or at least updated the system so that the board did not say "departed" and then disappeared off the list while we were all standing around waiting for the attendant to come back and let us know what was going on. We did eventually get to Dulles were I had to run to try and make it to the other terminal. I caught the shuttle with about 30 seconds to spare, and so made it to my flight to vegas.

It was a long flight but I had a book so it was bearable.

The only problem was I was not able to contact Elton (my coworker) to let him know that I made it. Apparently Wind doesn't have more than "limited service" in both Dulles and Las Vegas. This, I'm not so happy about. I'm a little tempted to pick up a pay-as-you-go card or something for while I'm down here. Or maybe use the company US phone if Elton can find it.

Today is apparently an unscheduled day so we'll be wandering around and, apparently, drink lots once our head sales guy arrives. Hopefully my liver will survive.

Right now I've got "Lots of Pictures" for Lydia and a postcard for Kira-Lynn on my pickup list. Anyone else want anything?

Last time I was there (almost 10 years ago now) you could drink all you wanted for free as long as you were gambling, and they still had quarter machines at that time. In fact I was usually able to find a bar with quarter machines built right into the bar top so I could pull up a seat and pound a few back for just a couple of bucks by gambling slowly :-)
