Gentle Readers,
For the late fiction friday:
Astrid hated the cliche but really didn't notice what she'd had until it was gone. She had woken up with a roaring hangover and no depth. She hadn't lost any of her character, she was still the same flawed human being she had always been. She just had no third dimension.
She tried to get out of bed but without any leverage she ended up having to slip from between the sheets instead of lifting them off. Thankfully there was no evidence of an overnight guest. Still, the comforter was disturbed enough that she must had misplaced it during the night.
"OK, " she thought as she paced the bedroom, " I must have taken it off in the night."
She searched through the bedroom bumping up against the shadows and checking behind the wall paper. She thought she saw something, but it turned out to be a scratch from the cat.
She was managing to keep a grip on the situation until she looked at the bedroom door. It was closed.
The knob completely failed to turn in her hands.
She slumped to the floor feeling defeated. Then she saw a black and white paw reach under the door and heard a mewling noise. She tried to slap her forehead but in her current state it just ended up a pat on the head.
Astrid slipped under door much to the surprise of Bixby who just wanted his breakfast.
She eventually found what she was looking for in the glass with her toothbrush. She sighed with relief as she was finally able to take something for her hangover.
