For what it's worth, I have been re-reading "What Lie Did I Tell" by William Gibson, and am looking in the bookcases for his previous book, "Adventures in the Screen Trade". He says a lot about different ways to look at scenes, and how some don't age well and some change meaning over time, and what that does for the viewer.
