Just in time for Pennsic Sewing
Jul. 6th, 2010 05:13 pmGentle Readers,
Some of you know that I've been working on a special project for His Majesty Quilliam. After his victory at Crown Tourney last year when I saw him at feast in his black and sliver fighting tunic I decided that I wanted to make him some late period garb. In honour of his sister who also likes the style, it was decided that he would get some Landsknect. I did 2 fittings, one of a body model and one of the linings and based the garment on that.
There are a number of things I would change if I was doing it again, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. landsknecht-po did a great job vetting my sources and providing more as well as suggesting where I could get the fabric. Reyl did all but 4 of the eyelets. Shyska did the laces. The shoes were from Westland Crafts (size 14!) and I don't know where the socks came from.
Here's what it looked like.
